Davidson's Fort was once the western most outpost in Colonial America. The fort was originally constructed in 1776 with the assistance of troops provided by General Griffith Rutherford. Today, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization has constructed a replica of the historic fort to interpret the pioneer-era history of Old Fort and the surrounding area. The fort is open on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. beginning April 3, 2010. Details are available on their website at http://www.davidsonsfort.org
